Land Search and Rescue may send volunteers individual news, information, and updates via email.
We keep your information safe by storing it securely (online and in hard copy). Tauranga LandSAR committee members and NZ LandSAR staff are the only persons with access to it.
We keep your information for the duration of your membership, at which point we destroy it by deleting your records. However, your student outcomes (pass/fail etc) and attendance for LandSAR Training courses will be retained as required by the Education and Training Act 2020, due to LandSAR Training being a Private Training Establishment.
It is important we keep accurate records about you. Please notify your Group Secretary (secretary@taurangalandsar.org.nz) and your Group and Volunteer Support staff if any of your details change.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact your Group Secretary (secretary@taurangalandsar.org.nz) for information held by the group, and contact your Group and Volunteer Support staff or email privacy@landsar.org.nz for information held by NZ LandSAR or LandSAR Training.
We also require you to complete a New Zealand Police Vetting Service Request and Consent Form. This will be provided separately. You will not be accepted to Land Search and Rescue without consenting to the Police Vetting process.
At times, your photo may be taken during training, on a SAREX or a SAROP. These photos may be used or published by Tauranga LandSAR and NZ LandSAR in publicity material, the media and online. You may request that your photos are not used or published by Tauranga LandSAR and NZ LandSAR, however we are unable to control individuals’ actions or those of other groups. You are requested to inform photographers if you do not want your photo taken or published.
If you take photos and there is a possibility that they may be published by your group or by NZ LandSAR, you should ask the people if they are ok with them being shared or published by your group and/or by NZ LandSAR.
